Ruby Soames
Born in Chelsea to an American-Irish model and film financier, Ruby was incarcerated at a girls’ boarding school until expelled at fifteen. With no qualifications, she got by as a model, painter 'n' decorator and life insurance sales rep until, in love with reading, she found her way to study Literature and Theology at Bristol University. Feeling let down by mainstream education, Ruby taught English in inner-city comprehensives in London. She has an MA in Creative Writing from Manchester Metropolitan University and an MSc in Psychology from Liverpool.
Seven Days to Tell You was originally published after winning Readers’ Favourite at the Hookline Novel Writers’ Competition, since then, Ruby’s writing has been shortlisted in various literary competitions including The Short-Story Prize and the Fish Short-Story Competition.
Living in the south of France, Ruby writes, lectures and looks after her two children with travel writer, Jon Bryant. Fun fact: although a descendant of Nell Gwynne, she has never eaten fruit.
