Jennie Walters
Jennie worked in publishing for several years before writing her own children’s books; successes included the Party Girls series (not those sort of party girls) and the Swallowcliffe Hall trilogy, which gave Julian Fellowes the idea for Downton Abbey – perhaps. What We Did in the War is her first novel for adults published under her own name: the story of two women who meet by chance during the second world war and take advantage of the chaos to create a new life for themselves. She also writes historical fiction under the name of Daisy Wood.
Jennie has two grown-up sons and lives in London with her husband, two rescue dogs and the best cat in the world. The most exciting thing she’s ever done is jump out of a plane with a parachute on her back. Now cured of all adventurous leanings, she now enjoys cooking, reading, walking the dogs and the idea of riding her exercise bike.
