Paul Braddon

Paul Braddon is the author of The Actuality – a cautionary tale of friendship, love and advanced bioengineering which was described by The Times as ‘mesmerising’. The Actuality is Paul’s debut novel and its concerns with identity, and in particular the gulf between how we perceive ourselves and how others perceive us, is a central idea in all his storytelling.

That writing could be a joy first struck Paul as an unworldly sixteen-year-old and he subsequently embarked on a degree in English Literature, but it was only with The Actuality that his dream of being published was finally realised.

Paul spent a large part of his career at the BBC in a variety of roles but now writes full time. In 2023 his second novel – Hanna – was published in Polish.

Paul lives in London with his wife Mary and son Thomas.
