Emma Salisbury
Joffe Books Prize 24 Finalist, Emma Salisbury is a creator of crime fiction that makes you think. Known for her pacey, topical, and gritty storytelling, Emma's latest book, One Good Reason, thrusts DS Chris Ashcroft into the streets of Manchester in a complex and compelling narrative.
Emma is also the author of the DS Kevin Coupland series, which readers have likened to the BBC’s powerful drama Happy Valley, praised for its gritty realism and fast pace.
Set in the North of England, Emma’s books delve into the ‘why’ as well as the ‘who’ of crime. From filicide and human trafficking to domestic violence and online abuse, her plots are hard-hitting and deeply engaging.
Her work has been featured in the Sunday Mail, on BBC Radio Scotland, and Talk Radio Europe. Her novels have regularly appeared in the top ten of Amazon’s Hardboiled chart.
Before becoming a full-time writer, Emma supported ex-offenders and socially excluded young men into employment. When she's not writing, she can often be found in bars of ill repute, where loose lips have provided the seed for many a storyline.
Born in Manchester, England, Emma now resides in a village on the East Coast of Scotland with her partner, Stephen.
